Skating at Artscape Wychwood Barns circa 1921!

Have you seen this beautiful image of the Artscape Wychwood Barns from 1921? Almost 100 years later, neighbours still flood the field surrounding the barns for a community skating rink.
In fact, the skating rink played a major role in the story of how the abandoned TTC repair barns eventually became Artscape Wychwood Barns! Visit the Case Studies section of Artscape DIY to learn more about the story of the barns, and how the community came together to develop a shared vision for the space. Also view a collection of beautiful historic photos of the site, as well as construction, interior, and exterior photos showing the finished project in action!

Each Case Study contains a complete project narrative, filmed interviews with key project players, photo galleries, architectural drawings and floorplans, and an illustrated project timeline! In addition, you’ll find a complete bibliography of material relating to the project, and all related project materials from Artscape.

Explore the Artscape Wychwood Barns, Artscape Distillery Studios, Artscape Gibraltar Point, as well as other Artscape projects here.

Also, stay tuned for the addition of complete case studies of additional Artscape projects such as Artscape West Queen West, and new projects currently in development like the Regent Park Arts and Cultural Centre, to be released in the coming months!
