Square Feet: The Artist’s Guide to Renting and Buying Creative Space

Looking to rent or buy creative space? “Square Feet” is the indispensible resource manual for artists and small arts organizations.

Whether it’s because you’ve outgrown your dining room art studio or the studio you rent is in a building that was just put up for sale; if you’re worried you’ll be evicted from your informal live-work space or  you’re  a small arts organization that needs its own office and studio space; you are in the market for real estate.

Fully revised and updated in 2011,”Square Feet” answers the questions Artscape hears most often: How do I go about finding a space? Gross lease, net lease, net-net lease – what’s the difference? Should I consider buying a place? What are my rights as a tenant? This manual answers these questions and many, many more.

This new edition of “Square Feet” was made possible with the generous assistance of the Ontario Arts Council and Ontario Trillium Foundation.
